You would have to think that this started life at some point as a vehicle for Gerard Butler, but its Davis’ reliably strong performance and persona that makes this more AIR FORCE ONE than ANGEL HAS FALLEN – as in the earlier film, this gets a notable boost from Davis, whose utter strength and conviction allows you to overlook the unlikelihood of a President engaging in hand-to-hand combat, complemented nicely by Starr who makes for a booable and hissable villain in the best film terrorist tradition. If it still lacks the overall fire and momentum of the best of these, it’s still engaging and great fun to watch.
