Hotel for Dogs
Pleasant enough kids film (with animals!), but lacks the comparative edge and cleverness that marked the best of the glut of similar entries in the noughties; this coasts along inoffensively, helped by its good-natured cast: Roberts again proving she has her aunt’s charm in spades, Cheadle proving his rock-solid authority can elevate even trivial material, and Kudrow and Dillon having daffy fun as the clueless authority figures. Too insipid and uninspired to be truly memorable, but I feel it’s baked into the design, so I’ll give it a pass.
