Love Hard

What starts as Exhibit A for “Netflix Christmas Rom-Com”… sort of ends as that as well, but there’s an irresistible well of good-natured vibes here that pushes it ever close to a solid recommendation, especially the great chemistry of an unknown-to-me cast, with Dobrev especially good as a loveable heroine in the Calista Flockhart mould, and some genuinely well executed moments of comedy (if you’re planning on bailing out, at least make it to the karaoke scene). It’s ultimately too pat and predictable to be a great film, but I suspect I’ll remember it fondly, and possibly drag out again for some festive distraction down the track.
