Marty Supreme
Supremely entertaining and sometimes exhilarating portrait of a loathsome, vile creep – that Chalamet portrays him as never less than compelling, and damn it all someone I want to root for, is testimony to his mega-watt charismatic performance. While obviously reminiscent of UNCUT GEMS, the lighter and less intensely caustic approach deployed here makes it a more enjoyable and insightful ride, and Safdie’s utilisation of a terrific supporting cast, all cast at right angles to expectations, makes this sometimes sweaty and unnerving journey a very funny and almost surreal one as well.
