Nifty and done-to-a-turn little thriller gets by on its no-frills, (blessedly) no-reality twisting narrative, relying instead on fine performances from underrated actors to carry the day (lovely to see Haysbert and Dickey given comparatively substantive roles). Arguably derivative and at a certain point a little predictable, but Power manages to capture the dark feeling of isolation, and the screenplay gives me a new card game that I’ll be trying out sometime soon! Liu makes for an impressive and likable anchor for the drama. A vast improvement over Power’s debut KILLING GROUND!
