I can’t help but feel this is the poor man’s PARASITE in a way, taking on the cold callousness of “those in power” in what should have been an interesting way; unfortunately it falls into the more familiar tropes of similar “snowballing crime” narratives, though in Korea they clearly play these narratives rougher and tougher than their American counterparts! Silly and contrived melodramatic plotting hurts the overall impact, but I do wonder how much better a (say) Coen Brothers remake would land.
