Pusher II: With Blood on My Hands
Dull and ugly continuation of the exploration of Copenhagen’s dank underbelly has a plodding earnestness to it that ultimately saps much of the energy from characters who are sleepy enough to begin with; so much of this plays out as imitative of too many British “kitchen sink” dramas, which feels somehow out-of-place translated into the new milieu. Refn shows flashes of his later directorial prowess, and Mikkelsen makes for a compelling lead, but the film goes nowhere particularly new or interesting.
