The Kitchen
Gets at least a degree of difficulty allowance for its casting of McCarthy and Haddish in roles that require them to play completely “straight”, and its to their credit (as well as ever-reliable Moss) that the film remains modestly compelling – it is a shame that given the daring casting, the rest of the film is derivative and predictable enough to be a bit sleepy – what this cast could have done given meatier roles to play and a more original narrative to navigate! Watchable but ultimately disappointing.
