The Secret Life of Walter Mitty

While not entirely successful, full props to Stiller for taking some big swings and connecting most of the time – this represents a step-up in his handling of large scale, visually ambitious material, as well as some genuinely intriguing philosophical reverie – none of the self indulgent, naval gazing of REALITY BITES here! Unfortunately his performers are never especially well served, especially as the film goes on (why drag MacLaine out of bed to do nothing with her!), but as a stylistic treat, this is more than satisfying.
