Wrong Turn 2: Dead End

Tempted to score this even higher for the first-rate job it does at doing exactly what it wants to do – this is an example of balls-to-the-wall madness unlike anything I would have expected from a direct-to-video sequel to a barely remembered slasher, performed with gusto by its cast (Rollins is the stand-out) and pulled off with brio by director Lynch, who places his foot on the accelerator and guns it from the opening moments, taking us unflinchingly into some seriously demented grotesquerie from the antagonists, but leavening it all with a sick, dark and nasty sense of twisted humour. I’m an unapologetically sick man, but I’ve got to say I loved every second of this.
