Maniac

Hmm. Not quite sure what I think of this film. On one side I feel as if it's trying to make a commentary on cinematic misogyny yet it simultaneously indulges a fair bit in it. There are just scenes where women had no clothes on for literally no reason and that just felt really dated. Especially whilst they're trying to do a serious oedipal character study. But then again some scenes where just genuinely very good and properly got under my skin. I dunno. I need time to think about this one. The ending was a tad pretensions for what the film was but oh well. For now it's a solid 3/5.
