The Northman

I think, for me atleast, the other Eggers films created a world where surrealism felt more in place (the supernatural force of The Witch and the spiralling of The Lighthouse) but this film felt a little tonaly confused for me. I get that using Nordic mythology could be seen as a tool to explore that but it still felt a little inconsistent. With that said I would honestly argue this is Eggers at the height of his directorial talent. It looks and feels beautiful. There were a few scripting problems that urked me a little but overall I still had fun and am very excited to see him branch out of direct horror.
