The Reckoning

Oh I don’t know!! I feel like there’s enough stuff out there about savilles crimes. I watched the Netflix documentary a while back and that was pretty eye opening. So it fades into slightly dodgy territory when you have Coogan playing the role. I mean he’s very very good in this but that’s kind of my gripe. If you can educate yourself enough on the topic through docs and so on, it feels like this is a slight ego role. As proven by almost every review praising Coogans performance. Should that be the take away from a show like this? I don’t know.  However, there’s something to be said for the darker sides of the show. As there’s no footage of Saville doing any of these crimes, it means the documentaries rely on awful stuff he’s said on tv in the past. Yet whilst that stuff is important and sinister, it’s still him in character on tv. But seeing the explicit image of his hideous side is quite powerful and does paint him more as the intimidating figure he was. He seemed to be a real rotten egg.
