The Strangers

I think this is pretty solid. I like how the invaders always seem to know where the couple are throughout the film. It’s like they’re always watching and that creates a real sense of hopelessness which is pretty sinister. Also the use of colour and lighting is pretty masterful in this film and watching with headphones, the sound design really holds the film together. I think the main downside for me is it does feel quite repetitive at a certain point but it does really nail that eerie vibe. Another con for me is when the invaders seem to completely vanish in a matter of seconds. The film really works when it emphasises how these psychopaths are just real people but as soon it becomes a little supernatural, that fear is gone. I think it’s a good spooker with some cool visuals but it aint no Funny Games.
