Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak
I loved this film. I watched it during the summer after my high school graduation. I had seen some clips from the movie during my senior year, and badly wanted to watch it, since it was a popular movie. Both my parents knew about QSQT and watched it in the theaters when it came out in 1988. I had heard some of the songs from the movie long before watching it. I tried to find it online, and I have some skill for finding movies for free, but it truly wasn't available, at least in English. In June of 2025, I drove almost an hour to a library that had a physical copy of the film with English subtitles, but I could never figure out how to make it work. When you inserted the disc, a game-like menu appeared, and it was very hard to play more than 5 minutes of the actual movie, and the subtitles were extremely delayed. About a year later, in July of 2026, I found the movie with English subtitles on Youtube, and watched it by myself in my home theater. I was so happy to finally be watching such a popular classic film, and I remember listening to the songs I had heard so many times before. The film is full of songs (Papa Kehte Hain, Ae Mere Humsafar) that captivate so much emotion. The plot of the movie is a little hard to understand without reading about it online, and/or speaking Hindi/Urdu, but overall, its great, almost like another take on Romeo and Juliet. Some parts are genuinely funny, even by today's standards (10/21/26), and some are actually sad. The movie is pretty long (2 hours 43 minutes), and you might need a small break in between parts. The music is great, the plot is great, and the characters are reminiscent of people today. Shyam reminded me of one of my close friends. I could relate to Raj and pictured one of my friends in Shyam's place, it was funny. My first and favorite Bollywood film. Obviously, I did not rate it a 100; you might be asking why, since I claim to love it so much. It's an old film, some camera work and transitions are tacky, and they're bound to be, its an old film, and though I don't mind them, I acknowledge their presence and adjust my rating to the standards of other users of Criticker. By now you can clearly tell that my review is more of a memory, but you can also see my actual review of Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak throughout the paragraph.
