Kikujiro
Five act structure really lets this movie breathe and Joe Hisaishi’s score is the lungs! The comedic timing with the cuts was incredible, especially during the pool scene — could’ve been manga panels.
Alongside some dark themes, it’s a sweet yet mature story that knows just when to inject some offbeat laughs.
Random Thoughts

- I wish every camping trip was as fun as the one in this movie
- Kikujiro’s wife only wore blouses adorned with big jungle cats
