Paths of Glory
“You’re too smart for me, professor. All I know is, nobody wants to die.”
The consequences of pride, ambition and glory are rarely felt by anyone other than the ants scurrying below. Incredible war movie, possibly one of the best. Every blast, every scream, every moment of sorrow or temper served an explicit purpose. War is hell and we keep it that way.
I got the feeling that the trench sequence as Kirk Douglas and the 701st prepare to launch the attack was probably a groundbreaking shot 70 years ago. Beautiful shot with so much purpose and tension.
