Crime 101

This is a solid crime drama and heist film that succeeds largely because of its clever screenplay and talented cast. Chris Hemsworth proves once again that he's capable of much more than blockbuster action roles, bringing confidence and charisma to a character who keeps the audience engaged throughout the story.

The supporting cast is equally impressive. Halle Berry delivers one of the stronger performances in the film, bringing intelligence and presence to every scene she's in. Barry Keoghan continues to demonstrate why he's one of the most interesting actors working today. He has a knack for making even supporting characters memorable, and that's certainly the case here.

The film's greatest strength is its atmosphere. It captures the tension and professionalism that make good heist stories work while maintaining a steady pace that keeps the audience invested. The screenplay doesn't reinvent the genre, but it understands exactly what fans of crime dramas want and delivers it effectively.

My biggest criticism is Mark Ruffalo's performance. I've enjoyed much of his work over the years, but lately he seems to gravitate toward variations of the same weary, troubled character. That approach felt particularly familiar here, and I found his scenes less engaging than those involving the rest of the cast.

Even so, Crime 101 is an entertaining watch. It may not rank among the all-time great heist films, but the strong performances, solid writing, and engaging story make it an easy recommendation for fans of the genre.
