Forbidden Fruits has a fun hook, even though I am clearly not the target audience. A group of young women working at a mall store who treat friendship, image, rituals, and power dynamics like a modern coven gives the movie an immediate identity. The mix of retail culture, witchy energy, horror-comedy, and mean-girl hierarchy makes it feel bright, strange, and specific right away.

The cast gives the film a lot of personality. Lili Reinhart, Lola Tung, Victoria Pedretti, Alexandra Shipp, Emma Chamberlain, and Gabrielle Union all help sell the idea that this circle is both seductive and toxic. Reinhart brings confidence and sharpness, while Pedretti adds a slightly stranger, more unpredictable edge. The movie works best when it lets the group dynamic become messy, tense, funny, and uncomfortable.

I also like that the movie leans into a bright, trendy, feminine, slightly artificial look instead of a standard dark horror atmosphere. The mall setting, clothing, rituals, social performance, and pop-cultural texture give it a fun identity. It feels more like a candy-colored nightmare than a traditional horror movie, which helps make the film stand out.

The most interesting part is how the movie treats female friendship as empowering, intimate, performative, cruel, and dangerous all at once. The horror is not just about witchcraft or a hex; it is about belonging to a group that gives you confidence while slowly taking control of you. The movie tries to be horror, comedy, satire, coming-of-age drama, and friendship thriller all at once, so it can feel scattered. The mall-coven idea is stronger than the plot, and some scenes work more as vibe than momentum. Still, Forbidden Fruits is creative, stylish, and unusual enough to be worth appreciating.
