Fuze

This is an entertaining action thriller that succeeds largely because it understands exactly what kind of movie it wants to be. Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Theo James, and Sam Worthington all deliver the cool action sequences and screen presence that you'd expect from actors in these roles, with Taylor-Johnson carrying most of the weight. He brings a steady confidence to the film and gives the story a focal point whenever it threatens to drift.

The screenplay essentially follows two separate plots that don't fit together quite as seamlessly as they could have. At times, it feels as though two different films are competing for attention. However, that disconnect ultimately works in the film's favor, as it helps set up a twist that I didn't fully see coming.

While Fuze isn't trying to reinvent the genre, it delivers enough tension, action, and strong performances to remain engaging throughout. It's a solid thriller that knows its strengths and plays to them well.
