Scott Beck and Bryan Woods delivered their strongest film since A Quiet Place. What impressed me most wasn't just the premise, but how confidently they built tension through conversation, ideas, and character dynamics rather than relying solely on traditional horror techniques. As both writers and directors, they demonstrate a real understanding of suspense and know exactly how long to keep the audience uncomfortable.

Sophie Thatcher continues to impress. After standout work in projects like Yellowjackets and Companion, she once again proves she can carry a film with intelligence, vulnerability, and quiet determination. Hugh Grant is the revelation here, weaponizing his natural charm in a way that's both fascinating and unsettling. Chloe East also contributes a strong performance that helps anchor the story emotionally.

The film occasionally gets a little too interested in its own philosophical debates, and the final act doesn't completely live up to the setup. Still, the performances, screenplay, and atmosphere make Heretic one of the more interesting horror films I've seen in recent years.
