Karate Kid: Legends
This is a movie that benefits greatly from nostalgia. Fans of the franchise will enjoy seeing familiar faces and themes return, and there are enough fun karate sequences throughout to keep the film reasonably entertaining.
Unfortunately, the story never becomes particularly interesting. Much of it feels predictable, and the screenplay struggles to give the audience a compelling reason to become invested in the new characters. While the film clearly aims to pass the torch to a new generation, that transition doesn't work as well as it should.
Ben Wang handles the physical demands of the role well, but I wasn't especially impressed with his performance as an actor. The emotional moments rarely landed for me, and I found it difficult to connect with his character in the way the film intended.
That said, I didn't like the movie. It's a harmless and occasionally enjoyable sequel that understands what fans of the franchise want. While it falls well short of the best entries in the series, the nostalgia and action are enough to make it a reasonably entertaining watch.
