Leigh Whannell set a very high bar for himself with films like Saw, Insidious, and especially The Invisible Man, so I went into Wolf Man with fairly high expectations. Unfortunately, this one never came together for me. The story struggled to build momentum from the start, and as the film progressed, I found myself becoming less invested rather than more.

Julia Garner continues to prove she's a talented actress and delivers a committed performance, even when the material isn't giving her much to work with. She does her best to ground the film emotionally and remains the strongest part of the cast.

There are a few effective moments of tension and some interesting visual ideas, but they're too few and far between. The screenplay never develops enough suspense, the characters aren't particularly memorable, and the scares become increasingly predictable. I kept waiting for the film to find its footing, but it never really did. This was one of the more disappointing releases of the year.
