at first i was taken aback by the sheer greatness of this film and only became more and more unbelieved as the film went on. rosemary's baby is definitely more of a mystery/thriller than horror, but it still has horror elements so that's good enough for me. i don't want to spoil anything but let me just say this is way ahead of its time in terms of camerawork, screenplay, dream sequences and pretty much everything else. i understand how some people think the ending ruins it, but for me that was the final straw in bumping this up from a 4½ to a 5. truly incredible, say whatever you want about polanski but the guy sure knows how to direct a movie.
