Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery
rian johnson, the master of modern mainstream mystery strikes again, and in the best way possible!
wake up dead man introduced tropes, ideas & plot points that i didn't even know were being introduced until they were already being called back to - a true testament to the lengths this film will go to play with your mind and understanding of story.
i'm not saying it's the greatest mystery of all time, (incendies being my 4th favorite film of all time takes that title), and at some points, yes, it was predictable, but what i wasn't able to predict was what rian johnson did with said moments of predictability, as i think he was purposefully giving the audience, myself included, little crumbs of a larger pie and telling us it was the whole thing.
overall, ignoring recency bias this is definitely my favourite of the knives out trilogy, and a fun, entertaining and riveting ride the whole way through!
