2001: A Space Odyssey

Alright I don’t know where to begin. Let’s start with the good parts of the movie. I love how the movie was SO influential for all the sci-fi movies that came after. Also I loved how innovative the cinematography was for this movie for the time it was made. I loved the story itself, however the way it was shown was really out of date and really boring. It was all so slow. This could have been a movie of an hour and would have been the same. The part where the robot sings is so creepy, I HATED it, I hate the song, I hate robots singing, it literally freaks me out. Thanks to myself it’s now past 1am so can sleep tight with many nightmares. The parts of the movie with the apes discovering the monolith and finding tools to ‘evolve’ into more human kinded, however the ending contradicts that. Also i hated all the bleeps and the duration of it.

Ahead of its time by possibly 20 years. Definitely imperfect; a tad messy, and the plot doesn’t fully land. But this is a triumph of spectacle. It’s hard to imagine how they cou...

After rewatching this in the cinema in "'unrestored' 70mm film", I now understand more about the plot because every time the monolith appears, evolution takes one big step. Like...
