- Maddie Ziegler is good.
- Thurman is good.
- It's got some style.
- Some pretty cool music too. Not a sweeping original score so much, but good usage of a couple popular (or formerly popular) songs. It fits the movie.
- Some of the cool moments is getting a box cutter blade stuck in her shoe and then using that to kill people. The big fight scene near the end where they team up and dance fight is yeah, really silly, but it's a good time.
- When I finished this movie, I thought it was a 65 or so, but then as I wrote my review and looked at what I've rated some other movies this year, I realized that this is sitting well with me. Maybe in time I drop it to a 70, but I gave Peaky Blinders a 75 (which I think it deserves) but I liked this at least as much (or maybe a little more, though I wouldn't give this an 80 because that's a little too high).
Mini Review: You know, I like this. It's a good time. Starts as something straight out of a horror movie but does a good job of transitioning to a gory action flick once they get to the basement. Yeah, it's silly watching them dance around and fight people who should be able to kill them, but it's entertaining campy, not cheesy campy. Plus, there are some actual cool moments within the violence. I wasn't really sure what to expect but it's deserving of a watch. Just approach it for what it means to be.
