The fight club director was on crack making this movie and I love it. The exotic shots, constant panning and creation of fear, detailed shots illustrating mechanics, the constant 4th wall breaks makes for a unique movie that serves as both a narration and a story folded into one. The twist in the movie is absolutely incredible and while there some indicators that make you confused initially, it all comes together at the end. Edward Norton (my goat) once again comes with a stellar performance, managing to portray a nihilistic, depressed insomniac in such an impressively candid way. Brad Pitt is perfect in his role as the devil on his shoulder. The themes about the fear of how anger can be harnessed is so interesting and is often counter to revolutionary ideas, yet is still important to know and understand. My only complaint is that Marla should have been further developed as a character. Other than that though, an amazing movie. The direction and technique is still some of the best I've ever seen. It serves as a great satire as to society and the manipulation of young men that is so common and pervasive.
