Chapter Three: The Turnbow Trap

This episode was full of pleasantly surprising and brilliantly set-up reveals. It perfectly explains why Max couldn’t wake up: after defeating Vecna last season, her soul—or her mind—was actually taken by him and locked away in his own dark mental prison. This setup seamlessly brings Max back into the story. While her physical body is severely injured, inside this constructed world, Max is incredibly strong. This also clarifies why Vecna can’t come in person—he was severely wounded by the main group last season and is now being contained and exploited by the military using technology. That part feels a bit far-fetched, though. How did the military find a way to suppress these superpowered individuals when even the scientists who originally studied them couldn’t? Maybe it suggests those earlier scientists didn’t want to control them through harmful means. And well, called it—Vecna knew where Will was all along.
