Mean Girls
A fascinating adaption, but probably not for the reasons that the creators intended. The musical bits are inoffensive, but mostly superfluous to the story, which is a condensed version of the superior original. There are long stretches where the movie forgets it's a musical towards the end, and the film seems embarrassed of its main protagonist, instead thrusting attention on Janice and Regina George. The latter is probably for the best considering that those performances and the ineffable Tim Meadows playing the hits are really the only thing that will get you through to the end.
Worth a single watch if you love the original, but this will probably be a historical oddity more than anything as the years go on.
