The original R.I.P.D. was a generic ripoff of Men in Black that seeks out a reason to exist throughout its runtime and comes up short. It is at least trying to be a film, which is why the failure is so boring. R.I.P.D. 2 has no delusions of grandeur, presenting a slapdash production that has five separate scenes of characters vomiting up paragraphs of exposition while the audience melts into puddles of indifference. It has five too many side characters, awful CGI, video game logic, and confusing accents throughout. I laughed at the awkward editing, the confounding jokes, and the endless tropes, so it's well worth a watch if you're in an MST3K mood. If you just want to watch a movie and end up on this one, you'd be better off dead.
