This true story of some poor simpleton sentenced for a heinous crime he didn’t commit focuses on the bit most dramatizations of miscarriages of justice gloss over: the actual time in prison for the wrongfully accused; the laborious, often unrewarding, fight for an appeal by those on the outside; and the effect this has on all those involved. A pretty depressing but effective watch: not ‘enjoyable’, more harrowing and affecting, and eventually anger-inducing.
