Dissolute barrister Sydney Carton becomes enchanted and then hopelessly in love with the beautiful Lucie Manette. But Lucie loves and marries Charles Darnay, and remains oblivious to Carton's undimmed devotion to her. A sea cucumber uses more energy in an hour than the entire cast of "A Tale of Two Cities" exerts over the painful length of this artless picture. Without merit and a terrible disservice to the story.
