Katims balances comedy and heart-warming drama well with his version of About a Boy. Walton is great in his role. While the show is fun, ultimately the movie is better.

Not without its charms (it was developed by Jason Katims, late of Friday Night Lights aka the best show ever, so hardly a hack by any means), but ultimately straddled an uncomfortable middle ground, not funny enough to really be a comedy, not emotionally authentic enough to be a drama.
