good effort but unloyal to the novel (its plot and essence) in some places -most notably its ending. This is perhaps inevitable but it becomes irritating. the movie strips out some of the original historico-political references. the ending is a crap except the mocking against Soviet propaganda aesthetics (however it is also only partially correct). At the end new human masters arrive (!) and they are back with more 'human' face. FIRST READ THE BOOK BEFORE SEEING THIS MOVIE

Fond memories of school from this movie due to the 'communist anthem' scene.

Even though it is not as good as the book, it still has some pretty impactful scenes in this movie. Pretty good cast for this movie as well. Some of the puppetry and special effects were kind of distracting at times.
