While it tries to avoid some of the more typical sensationalist tactics of the true crime telemovie, and while it does maintain a certain ambivalence about its "everyday" protagonist (but how could it not?), the very great reliance on private conversations between Leach and West, for which no corroboration is possible, makes the whole thing seem very dubious. More generally, overstays its welcome and seems somewhat confused about what it wants to say about the issues it raises.

Atmospheric at times, worth it.
