Let's make the protagonist have *all* the 'things' but only a little 'quirky' bit and -presumably so the audience can feel what ASD is like- we'll cast a main with so much botox and filler they can't really make expressions.

Probably not the most accurate depiction of autism, but at least an honest one. It really excels with characterization for all the main players (save Nick). Good blend of comedy and drama, as well.

I thoroughly enjoyed this. While I'm sure the character of Sam is not entirely an accurate portrayal of a kid with autism, but he is likable, and I found myself relating to him in some ways. The characters as a whole are pretty interesting and I didn't find myself really bored at any point in the series. The cast as whole are very good, especially Michael Rapaport who seemed to excel at this kind of role. I'm really curious to see where the series goes from here, as it was only an 8 part start.

TV: Heartfelt, positive and honest portrayal of not just autism but relationships and the psychological struggles therein. Succeeds in doing the dramedy thing where so many US comedies are glib and aggressive. Rarely, perhaps, a little cute for the sake of entertainment, but nonetheless an affecting drama. In particular the relationship between Sam and his sister is resonant and nuanced. Quality portrayals of this dynamic are rare, and it's clear the writers and actors 'get it'.| S1:80 S2:78

Tipico family drama che si guarda volentieri ma non fa gridare al capolavoro. Ha il merito di parlare dell'autismo sdrammatizzandolo, ma forse semplifica un po' troppo le cose.

The usual sanitized version of mental illness. One season was enough for me and I only managed to finish it by fast-forwarding through many scenes, especially the ones involving Jennifer Jason Leigh's character.

Funny, fast pace, great cast. Even if it’s not 100% accurate, it’s close enough. As someone with Aspergers, I can’t fully relate since Sam is much more affected, but scenes like the leather jacket are spot on. Although I would’ve kept the jacket to sell or give away at least.
