I would've put money into this after hearing the pitch. A patient in the same asylum as Norman inherits the motel and tries to reopen it after being released. The groundwork now laid for an anthology series about the guests that stay at the motel. Am I gullible? Yes, but I can see it working. What happens however is an extended period of them fixing the place up followed by a single "guest story" that decides to play nice instead of menacing. Hindsight seems obvious but I think we missed out.

Weird pieces of slapstick comedy permeate this and it becomes fascinating. Word of warning: you will leave this movie knowing what Bud Cort looks like naked. Slowly evolves into Scooby Doo. Remember that part in Psycho where the inter-dimensional portal opens to let life lesson giving ghosts come through to aide the inhabitants of Bates Motel?
