Bokudake ga Inai Machi

I’ve had the anime on my watch list for years, but I finally gave this version a shot, which is apparently a more faithful adaption iirc. I really enjoyed the stuff set in the past, especially the middle 4 episodes. The present day stuff varies, with some of it being too over the top and tropey. I do eventually want to see the anime to compare, especially if it differs in the later episodes, which started to run out of steam.
