It's a soap opera, pure and simple--none of the characters have any depth or complexity whatsoever--but likable enough. The cast is appealing, with nice 1920s period costumes and set furnishings. So why, whenever there is music, do we have to hear lousy modern pop shit, even when it's part of the action? And being hit over the head with female empowerment messages multiple times per episode gets real tiresome real quick.

L'ambientazione è originale e la prima stagione era anche relativamente buona, benché molto soap opera. Dalla seconda in poi però tutto ha cominciato ad essere troppo assurdo, si va avanti a guardarlo per inerzia. L'ultima stagione in particolare è frammentata e incoerente, con un finale forzatamente tragico per niente in linea col tono della serie.
