"Chaplin Today: City Lights" includes a lot of archive footage and not much backstage information, but it does make a point out of the context in which "City Lights" was created and Charlie Chaplin's insistence on silent film-making, which he now combined with sound effects, and contains some on-point analysis by Peter Lord, strangely the only talking head, about Chaplin's similarities to cartoons, how he paired romance and humour and how he walked the fine line between realism and exaggeration.
