For some reason, I vividly remember seeing this on TV as a kid when it first came out. Recently saw it again, and hated it just as much as I did when I was 8. Making all the characters more "everyday" doesn't work at all--Cinderella's family is just casually hateful, rather than monsters you can REALLY hate, and the prince seems indolent and not very bright. Insipid songs, cheesy soundstage "sets", weird color, hideous costumes (very unfortunately memorable), and no one can really sing.

Your typical saccharine fare from Rodgers & Hammerstein, but it's got its charms, especially considering how low budget the whole production was. I also enjoyed that one of the stepsisters appears to be older than her own mother.
