David Makes Man

Season 1 - Uneven series mixes dramatic and fantasy elements to middling effect, but scores strongly during the "straighter" moments, showing a portrait of McDowell's David and his experiences growing up in a ghettoised community; in fact, it's the supporting players who are ultimately more interesting than the central figure, with Arenas struggle with sobriety particularly heartrending.
