Doomed Love

Neste filme é posto em prática a teoria de Manoel de que o cinema é a síntese de todas as artes. Na busca pelo filme mais fidedigno possível a obra literária, há diversas cenas onde os personagens estão imóveis tal quadro enquanto o narrador conta a ação ou cena em que sem emoção os personagens falam seus textos para a câmera (a arte de manoel de filmar a palavra). Tem coisas interessantes, a fotografia é lindíssima e o tom arrastado contribui para o impacto do filme, porém é apenas razoável.

This was a miniseries, so it's well over 4 hours. There is an interesting story here, but unfortunately (either unintentionally or, I fear, intentionally) someone decided that the best way to tell this was in an overly wooden, minimalist style that has the vibes of high school students being reluctantly compelled to act something out as a class project. The acting style is so boring that it drags the whole thing down, which is a shame, because like I said, the story is interesting.
