Rather than straight-up copy the artstyle of the original FLCL, Progressive goes in another direction, settling for a different but still quite appealing visual flair. Unfortunately, the same can't be said for everything else. It's too much of an attempt to ape the feel of FLCL, without the substance and energy that made the original work. A few good moments here and there, but for the most part a disappointment.
