A prolific director who made his name in the German New Wave Cinema of the 70s. Born in rural Bavaria, Herzog never saw any film or television as a child -- a fact that didn't prevent him from becoming one of his country's best-known and most well-respected filmmakers.

Some of these were better than others, but overall it was worth seeing, especially as a Herzog fan. I quite enjoy hearing him converse casually with people he admires, and the guests were interesting for the most part. For a "getting to know Herzog" sort of thing, this was vastly superior to Portrait: Werner Herzog. It's not something I'd recommend to anyone unfamiliar with Herzog, but for people like me it's worth seeking out.
