Flowers in the Attic

I had a friend who loved the book to the point where my long-refusing to read it led to her promise/threatening to read it to me in my sleep. After watching this -incredibly- goofy melodrama, my suspicions that the book isn't a 'gothic masterpiece' have grown further and made all those joke arguments seem even funnier.[df]
