Despite what one may assume, this isn't wank material, and it isn't really horror either. It's a Greek tragedy about how abusive power relationships are baked into our society, how kids (teens and preteens alike) take the brunt of it, and how their agency is systematically denied, even by each other. It shows you fucked-up people, abusers, murderers, and gives you room and reason to empathize; it's a doomed romance that sold me more than any doomed romance ever has. I'm glad I watched it.
