Following the New Mexico bomb test, the allied leaders toast cheerfully to the impeding destruction. Later, after the bomb has fallen, a Japanese mother cries out "I'm a bad mother to you!" as her dying daughter is scorched alive by the fires of Hiroshima. By the end, I couldn't help but think, hrm, maybe this isn't the most refined or mature account of the tragedy.

The actor they have playing Harry Truman doesn't look much like him at all, and was probably the only actor the right age they could get on short notice who could do a convincing American accent. Otherwise, like so many British productions I have seen, this is a very crisp and professional job of a major event from a quite different point of view than usual. Very watchable, with plenty of intriguing little details that not even I knew, even though I've been a history nerd since I was a boy
