Based on a picture book from 1967. Eleven rowdy and hungry cats get into trouble after stealing a fish, and after an old man tells them a tale about a giant fish in a lake across the mountain, they decide to leave their town to try to catch it. Along the way they quarrel and split up, only to discover that it's not easy being alone. After reuniting, and crossing deserts and mountains, they finally reach the lake and encounter the lullaby-singing giant fish...
